EPG and catch-up: what to check when guide or archive data is missing

Live pictures, a programme guide and catch-up are different things. A channel can play perfectly even when its source provides no EPG or recordings. A player cannot reconstruct this information from a channel name alone.

First check the programme data

The source must supply EPG data and map it to the correct channel identifier. If the guide is missing only on some HD or SD variants, the provider may use different mappings. The same displayed name in two playlists does not guarantee the same EPG identifier.

Refresh the playlist and check whether the problem affects every channel or just one. If guide data changed recently on the server, reloading is more useful than reinstalling. A direct TS stream does not automatically include a programme guide.

Check the clock and selected programme

Make sure the device date, time and time zone are correct. A programme displayed in the wrong time slot is not necessarily a playback-engine issue. Compare the device clock with guide intervals before changing other settings.

If programme titles contain codes or unusual text, record an example and check the source. Do not replace EPG fields with channel names to conceal the issue: that loses the actual information. A useful report includes channel, date, time and a screenshot without account details.

Catch-up depends on the provider archive

The channel must support catch-up and the programme must fall within the period retained by the provider. Having yesterday’s guide does not mean yesterday’s recording exists. An Archive button does not guarantee every time slot is available.

Test a recently completed programme on a channel confirmed to support catch-up. If that works but an older programme does not, check retention. If nothing works, send the provider the channel and tested interval. Anume Player does not automatically record every channel or provide its own video archive.
